Learning Center Coordinator

Office of External Campuses

Window Rock Center


Duty Schedule:

Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm (possible late hours).

Summary/Objective of Position:

The position is responsible for planning, coordinating, and organizing a variety of Learning Center service and activities to assist students and advance their educational goals. Position also serve as support services to student success initiatives, such as student orientation, tutoring services, academic workshops, etc.

Provides information to students about the Learning Center services; assists with scanning documents, printing, scheduling tutoring and study group sessions; coordinates use of computer labs with student, staff, and faculty; assist students with library services.

Works closely with Tsaile Learning Center to ensure quality of student services.

Collaborates with other centers to partner and facilitate student learning opportunities.

Assist faculty with printing , scanning, test proctoring, and minor IT equipment troubleshoot; conduct ALEKS math placement test.

Operates a variety of virtual learning equipment and computers; coordinates with IT to test, adjust, maintain and troubleshoot; maintains the lab in a safe, clean, and orderly condition.

Provide training to students on how to navigate the DC Portal (warrior web, canvas, online distance learning participation, Zoom, MS teams, i.e.).

Coordinates with the first yer coordinator and orientation staff to schedule student orientations for new students.

Coordinates with students service programs to schedule or conduct regular academic workshops targeting academic skill building, time management, study skills, and financial literacy.

Assist students with their scholarship application (Navajo Nation Scholarship FAFSA, private scholarships, etc.).

Assist with supervising part-time college student workers (Federal Work Study, Tutors, Workforce Development, or TANF participants, Chapter House employment programs, etc.).

Assist with community outreach activities; network with other Colleges/Universities, tribal entities (tribal departments), and state organizations to coordinate activities for students (Career Fair, Transfer Day, local K-12 schools, classroom visits, booth setup, etc.).

Collects and compile data for institutional statistical reports (sign-in sheets, computer lab sign-in, tutoring services, activities/event sign-in or grant related data reporting).


QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience


Minimum:

High School diploma or certificate from an institution. One year of customer service experience. Experience in tutoring and working with Native American.

Preferred:

Associate/Bachelor Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work or closely related fields. Two to Three years experience of working in a College setting.

Knowledge:

Knowledgeable ab out FERPA policies to demonstrate student confidentiality.

Knowledgeable in using Microsoft Software and student information systems (i.e. J1).

Knowledgeable in using basic office equipment (i.e. desktop computers, Xerox machines, etc.).

Knowledgeable in College academic policies and procedures in assisting students.

Skills:

Gather and self initiate ideas. Self motivated and work under pressure.

Participate in individual and team professional development opportunities.

Skill in decision making and problem solving.

Demonstrate sensitivity to student's needs; ability to encourage and empower students to make their own decisions.

Abilities:

Ability to identify student's needs for support services in order to make referrals.

Ability to work effectively with a diverse student population.

Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and faculty.

Ability to make effective decision-making and willingness to adjust to changes.

Physical Requirement, Work Environment & Travel:

The position will require average agility and good physical condition.

Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Travel to other Dine College sites may be required for training or for meetings.

Other Requirement(s):

Valid state issued driver's license is required.

Oral fluency in Navajo is highly desirable and a plus.
