Job Title: Makerspace Manager

Job Classification: Non-Licensed Support

Reports to: Director of CTE and Special Projects

Work Schedule: School Calendar / 7:45am-4:15pm


General Description:

The Success Academy Makerspace Manager’s role is to create a well-rounded, comprehensive maker space and pathway program for students in K-5. You will be responsible for providing support to the students and to the instructional process within the classroom and other assigned areas in a way that will be creative and interesting to the students. Applicants should be fluent in or willing to quickly learn maker space tools, setup, and planning.


Qualifications

· Experience in Maker Space use preferred.

· Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Demonstrates technology proficiency including but not limited to Microsoft applications

· Possess the ability to work independently and manage time effectively

· Stamina to handle highly active young people

· Lifelong learner- proven expertise and skills when working with new technologies


Primary Responsibilities

· Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students for whom you are responsible within your areas.

· Observe and evaluate students’ performance, behavior, social development, and physical health

· Create lessons and prepare materials for the classroom for maker space utilization alone and collaboratively.

· Establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and communicate those objectives to students.

· Plan and assist with training in various CTE exploration tools such as World of Work.

· Coordinate field trip and career exploration experiences for students as needed.

· Collaborate with parents or guardians, teachers, social worker, and administration in order to resolve students’ behavior and academic problems

· Interface with Boy’s and Girl’s club/other outside personnel as needed to enhance programming and ensure proper space usage and maintenance.

· Provide differentiated instruction, student engagement, quality pacing and rigor throughout lessons taught

· Enforce administration policies and rules governing students

· Prepare reports on students and activities as required by administration

· Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve


professional competence

· Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, visits by guest speakers, and guide students in learning from those activities

· Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required which may go beyond the scheduled work day

· Perform administrative and supervisory duties, as needed

· Collaborate with other teachers and administrators in the development, evaluation, and revision of school programs.

· Select, store, order, issue, inventory and maintain classroom and shop equipment, materials, and supplies as needed

· Help oversee implementation of PDP or other career exploration tools as needed.

· Ensure student, parent, and employer surveys are administered and analyzed for areas of strength and improvement.

· Attend periodic off school calendar planning sessions as needed to ensure programmatic success.


School Activities

· This position is required to attend and/or participate in such other activities as directed by the Administrator such as: faculty meetings (before or after school hours), open houses, commencement exercises, chaperone student activities, provide guidance for students, participate on faculty committees, study and help resolve school problems.


Essential Skills and Abilities

· Competency in the administration and interpretation of academic ability testing

· Ability to use technology for documentation and preparation of professional materials

· Ability to teach and assist students and staff in the use of computer applications

· Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate behavior plans for use in general and special education settings as relevant to assigned areas

Ability to demonstrate and operate relevant machinery to the teaching of this content

· Ability to prioritize tasks, allocate time, and maintain schedule flexibility.
