POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides direct supervision of a group of children in a seasonal camp setting. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.
  • Previous experience working with school age children; preferably in a day camp setting
  • Previous experience working with sports activities
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certification and Child Abuse Prevention Training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • Complete all components of licensing requirements for Mississippi State Department of Health or Tennessee Department of Human Services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Follows and facilities purposeful and engaging activities and curriculum which meet the individual physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs of the participants.
  • Provide quality care and supervision to all campers
  • Provide a safe, engaging, and welcoming environment
  • Guide behaviors using positive methods
  • Set up facilities or/equipment for activities and store equipment appropriately after use and work to keep camp facilities clean at all times
  • Maintains a positive relationship and interacts with campers, parents, and team members

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Climbing, sitting, standing, pushing, walking, kneeling, and stooping
