  • Search, compile, store and manage GIS data or GIS compatible data from federal and state repositories as well as other data sources.

  • Prepare GIS data in the form of maps, tables, graphs, presentation boards, etc., using GIS hardware or software applications.
  • Incorporate Global Positioning System data into GIS maps.
  • Prepare work products and deliverables using different coordinate systems, map projections and datums.
  • Organize, manage and maintain existing GIS databases and update databases as needed.
  • Provide data interpretation and analysis.
  • Develop geodatabases.
  • Work independently and as a team, set task priorities, manage multiple assignments, and work with limited supervision.
  • Provide mentorship and quality checks of GIS data and/or deliverables for less experienced staff members.
  • Integrate engineering designs (AutoCAD, DWG files, etc.) into GIS deliverables.
  • Work with engineering and environmental staff to define project needs and project deliverables.
  • Incorporate environmental resources (field observations, aerial photography, LiDAR, topography, floodplain data, wetland data, soil data, etc.) into maps and deliverables.


Requirements:
  • B.S or M.S./M.A. Computer Science, Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Remote Sensing, Geoinformatics, Environmental Science or directly related discipline with 7-10 years of professional experience including 2-5 years of environmental data/mapping experience, public involvement experience, and/or demographic experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with the ESRI suite of software including: ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS StreetMap, ArcGIS Field Maps/Smart Forms, ArcGIS ModelBuilder, ArcGIS StoryMaps, ArcGIS Spatial Analyst, ArcGIS Data Interoperability, ArcGIS Network Analyst, ArcGIS Image Analyst, ArcGIS Location Referencing System/toolbox, etc.
  • Data mining and data management skills including identifying, creating, editing, and converting GIS data from one format to another.
  • Cartographic and visual design skills for print and web-based applications.
  • Strong communication and time management skills, and attention to detail to effectively support the requirements of project teams and clients.
  • Experience creating, publishing, and managing map services.
  • Experience with and application of Python is a plus.
  • TxDOT pre-certifications for 1.9.1 GIS and Data Analysis, 15.3.1 Aerial Photogrammetry, and/or 15.3.2 Terrestrial Photogrammetry is a plus.
  • American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) Certified Photogrammetrist or ASPRS Certified Mapping Scientist – Remote Sensing is a plus.
  • GISP certification is a plus.
