Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Comments• Utilizes the nursing process as the basis for nursing care.
• Provides direct patient care.
• Performs nursing functions, applying professional skills; pre-operative; intra-operative; post-operative.
• Documents and maintains date on patient’s record.
• Maintains a safe environment.
• Applies basic teaching / learning concepts to patient education.
• Provides for life support.
• Acts as a patient advocate.
• Coordinates scheduling/staffing of the department and applicable call schedule, daily coordination of patient care assignments.
• Assists with regulatory readiness and ongoing regulatory requirements.
• Assists with staff education and of intro/annual evaluations.
• Assists with ongoing communication with leadership and staff.
• Conducts patient and staff rounding,
• Assists and represents department at key meetings related to projects (ie Cerner, PI Projects, Data Collection Occurrence Reports, EOC Rounding, Supply Inventory).
• Cooperates as a member of the nursing unit, department and overall hospital team.
• Participates in performance improvement.
• Delegates and / or supervises aspects of care to team members and reviews completion.
• Performs related work as required.
• Communicates pertinent data to appropriate parties.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Conducts himself/herself effectively in stressful situations.
• Approaches situations with distressed patients, families, and visitors in a calm, professional manner.
• Collaborates with physicians and nurses to devise individualized care plans for patients.
• Properly assesses and manages patient populations with appropriate intervention.
• Administers intravenous medications and parenteral nutrition.
• Administers blood products and evaluates patient response.
• Supervises nursing staff and monitoring their needs.
• Coordinates nursing assignments and patient care.
• Oversees patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
• Mentors new staff and provides support and guidance to all staff members.
• Ensures compliance with all health and safety regulations.
• Identifies issues or emergent matters and responds in a calm and effective manner.

research; of preparation, administration, and actions of medications; of treatments and medical procedures; of counseling
and teaching techniques; of medical equipment as it relates to patient care.
• Two years of RN experience in area of specialty is required.
