Job Title: Automotive Upfitter / Installer
Department: Automotive Installation
Accountability: This position reports to the Automotive Installation Supervisor
Responsibilities:
•Install automotive products such as emergency lighting, mobile computer systems, police/fire radios, partitions, prisoner transport units, etc. into police, fire, rescue and other applicable vehicles
•Follow written/verbal instructions, product samples, work orders, schematics or blue prints to install equipment on vehicles
•Cut or drill to properly mount equipment in or on vehicles according to customer specifications
•Fabricate materials available for custom install/mounting
•Lay out work to be performed according to instructions and customer specifications
•Wire accessories to function properly and meet customer guidelines
•Work as a team to accelerate job completion
•Maintain a clean and safe work area
•Assist with special projects as assigned by Supervisor
Requirements:
•High School Diploma or GED
•4+ years’ experience in 12 volt automotive aftermarket wiring and up fitting
•Some fabrication skills required
•Must have personal tools and tool chest
•Must have a valid driver’s license
•Ability to read and interpret work instructions, production documents, and engineering drawings
•Able to perform basic mathematical computations
•Ability to understand written and verbal instructions in English
•Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively
•Must possess a strong attention to detail
•Must be able to tolerate long periods of standing, squatting, stooping and bending
•Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
•Visual requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus
•Proficient computer skills
•General knowledge of workplace safety, a plus
