Director Global Logistics

Job Summary: Provide vision, leadership, and coaching in global logistics planning and supply chain optimization, including inbound, outbound, and intercompany transfers. Lead our global logistics team in the optimization of freight and warehouse capacity with measurable performance and total cost targets against industry benchmarks. Identify and lead the implementation of improvement projects that guarantee excellence in overall operations, delivering customer service excellence on a global level while ensuring that standards are upheld in support of corporate goals and YOY sales targets. Actively contribute to organizational objectives on Safety, Cost, Order to Delivery, Inventory, and Compliance. This position implements innovative efficiencies while working as partners with all other areas of the business.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Leads global facilities and departments in areas such as freight, warehouse, and logistics optimization.
• Sets annual global freight cost reduction targets and leads a total cost strategy to capture opportunities in areas such as global freight, global warehousing, inbound and outbound freight integration, operational efficiencies, and departmental expenses.
• Responsible for the overall Logistics budget, while also managing the budgets for Administrative Staff & Freight (Inbound & Outbound).
• Lead our logistics group in the selection and prioritization of initiatives. This must be accomplished by aligning proven logistics opportunities and trends with an in-depth understanding of business needs, targets, and culture.
• Lead the development and alignment of human talent to fully support and deliver on the organizational vision for a global logistics function.
• Leads a strategy to improve and maintain customer service with measurable targets in areas such as on-time delivery, carrier damage/loss, customer complaints, and other selected metrics.
• Leads a strategy to improve and maintain service to internal customers with measurable standards and targets. Develops a team driven towards a positive attitude and high service level to internal and external customers.
• Provide global support to our Sales Organization in projects to optimize our Supply Chain all the way to our customers. This position will effectively support projects to optimize overseas warehousing, global freight, customs management, and other logistics needed to improve value to our customers.
• Responsible for compliance, eg. hazardous materials transportation, import & export documentation, and tariff classification.
• Works directly with internal Operations teams to gain an understanding and alignment of business needs and objectives.
• Manages projects/budgets and ROI for each project, leads presentations to key stakeholders to keep them informed of the status of initiatives and projects, performance against planned objectives, and future strategic directions with associated impact on expenses.
• Identifies and capitalizes on new opportunities to improve process flows and service.
• Evaluate and identify external advancements in the industry to improve customer/user satisfaction and reduce operating expenses.

• Develop policies, procedures, methods, and standards for logistics activities and projects.
• Maintains and develops positive business relationships with transportation vendors involved in logistics activities.
• Review logistics performance with customers and vendors against targets, benchmarks, and service agreements.
• Supports inventory accuracy program. Allocates and assigns logistics resources to cycle count warehouses that are under Logistics control, including contract warehouses. Fully supports and participates in annual physical inventory count and other inventory accuracy processes.
• Responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable transportation regulations (DOT, IMDG, IATA).

Education/Experience:

Required:

• 10+ years of Logistics and Supply Chain experience
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or other industry equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience leading a collaborative and teamwork-oriented department.
• Experience with Transportation and Warehouse Management Systems
• Excellent communication and customer service skills

Desired:

• Master's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Logistics, or other relevant area of study.
• APICS Certification
• Black Belt Lean Six Sigma
• 5+ years experience in leading project implementations
• Ability to collect and analyze statistical data, and operational/management reports, including workflows, and be able to apply cost-benefit analysis techniques to develop business strategies.
• Inventory management skills
• Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, or equivalent
• Experience with managing employees in a bargaining unit
• Spanish language fluency
