What you will be doing:

Action Target, Inc. is currently seeking a Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Engineer. Your primary focus as the HVAC Engineer will be to design systems for indoor shooting ranges and manage project decisions including equipment selections, HVAC duct sizing and layout, and defining control schemas. You will work with direct internal drafters and outside firms in creating necessary drawing sets (preliminary and final) for these systems and review/approve the completed drawings for completeness and accuracy. You must be well-versed in the principles of construction and HVAC systems.

Some of your day-to-day tasks:

  • Evaluating and selecting equipment from various suppliers for use in Action Target-designed systems
  • Working with and guiding drafters to ensure that system drawings are correct and include all necessary detail
  • Designing HVAC systems for indoor shooting ranges, supporting sales, customers, architects, project management and sourcing
  • Reviewing HVAC system drawings created internally and by outside contractors
  • Coordinating with Project Managers and customers to help ensure on-time and trouble-free installs
  • Innovating new solutions and improving the current design standard to reduce costs while increasing customer satisfaction
  • Providing technical support to service coordinators and technicians
  • Diagnose and resolve HVAC system performance issues

What do you need to be able to do?

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years of HVAC design experience
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Ability to read and understand construction and architectural drawings
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to schedule and prioritize tasks
  • Knowledge of building code requirements
  • An understanding of ASHRAE standards and practices in system design
  • PE license preferred
  • Occasional travel required
