Job Title: Cultural Liaison (SRR Tribal Members Only)

Reports To: Director
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Rate of Pay: $20.00 per hour
Summary
This position is responsible for being a tribal liaison between the Cultural Department, the Tribal Community, the Education Department, Recreation Department and other entities as needed. This position is responsible for community outreach pertaining to cultural education, events, programs and information gathering based upon Community input on culturally desired programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed duties and/or may be required to perform additional or different duties from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
- Prepare and present presentations;
- Research, archive and present cultural documents, recordings and other materials;
- Investigate Community interest and need for culturally focused programs and events;
- Implement and create educational programs for the Community;
- Create and implement cultural based research projects based upon Community interest;
- Find funding to support Cultural Programs;
- Participate in re-burial of ancestral human remains;
- Participate in cultural activities at community events;
- Learn and teach language, history, tribal geography, traditional stories and cultural practices;
- Input and collaborate with other employees on the creation of a Tribal Database;
- Create lesson plans and activities for various age groups;
- Gather and prepare cultural materials for Community needs.
- Drive to various sites, institutions, museums and/or trainings;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Drive company vehicle or personal vehicle to conduct business on behalf of the Cultural Department;
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
One year related experience working with Tribal Governments, Anthropology, Linguistics, Native American Studies or Education
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Valid California Driver License
Must be insurable by company’s insurance carrier and maintain throughout employment
Computer Skills
This position must be proficient in operating Microsoft. Excel, Publisher and PowerPoint.
Other Qualifications
- Must provide a current DMV printout
- Must provide a current negative TB test result
- Must have or willing to learn the knowledge of Native Customs, Traditions, Culture and be Culturally Sensitive and Tribes Cultural Practices and keep the Confidentiality
- Must be able to work flexible hours, nights and weekends
- Must be willing to travel
- Must be assertive, firm yet understanding when redirecting or dealing with youth and adults
- Able to work with all ages and ethnic groups
- Be punctual, dependable and project a professional image through dress, behaviors and positive attitude.

Primary function require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting and; to walk, stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach and twist; to lift, carry, push and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight, to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to operate a vehicle to travel to various locations and to verbally communicate to exchange information. Vision and hearing must be in the normal visual and audio range with or without correction. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment
Work is performed primarily in a standard office setting with some travel to various locations to attend meetings or inspect, supervise and/or; occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and wet and/or humid conditions; occasionally; incumbent may be required to work extended hours including evenings, weekends and may be required to travel outside tribal boundaries to attend meetings and/or workshops; subject to emergency call out at any time.
