OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs service work relating to transferring liquids (chemicals, acids, oils etc.) between marine, rail, trucks and/or storage facilities within the terminal.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 Personal Safety is the responsibility of the employee. Every employee has the “right to say NO” if it is perceived the allotted work or the workplace is unsafe for any reason.

 Safely load and unload Rail Cars. **

 Safely load and unload Trucks. **

 Safely load and unload Vessels and Barges. **

 Trans load: Rail Car to Truck, Truck to Rail; Rail Car to Isotainer, Isotainer, Isotainer to Rail Car; Rail Car to Flexitainer, Flexitainer to Rail Car.**

 Direct Move: Rail Car to Vessel, Vessel to Rail Car. **

 Safely maneuver, pull, weigh, and spot rail cars. **

 Safely transfer product from Tank to Tank, and Tank to and from all modes of transport. **

 Maintain housekeeping at the place of work.**

 Participate in security protocols at the facility as required and report incidents to appropriate parties.

 Investigation of facility malfunctions observed or reported including lighting fencing and security.

 As directed, perform security detail on shift basis at the Terminal entrance gate, controlling traffic, inspecting visitor’s vehicles and badges etc.

 Accurately enter information into the Terminal Management System (TMS), Oasis or equivalent.

 Adhere to site and company procedures when performing work. Odfjell is a ‘Procedure Driven’ Company and as such, there is a procedure that has to be followed for every task required to be completed by the Terminal Operator. Notwithstanding anything contained in this or any other document issued by the Company or any order regardless of its source, the Terminal Operator is NOT to attempt any task unless he / she is fully conversant with and follows the associated and governing procedure(s). **

 Perform operator preventive maintenance on equipment as designated by Preventative Maintenance schedule**

 Perform change in service inspection on product systems when applicable in accordance with procedures.

 Oversee assigned contractors and direct contractors on performing tasks related to responsibilities as required.

 Safely operate moveable equipment to load and unload equipment and materials.**

 Perform duties in the warehouse when requested and as needed.

 Perform other job related duties as training allows and assigned by Operations Manager.

 Perform maintenance on exterior surfaces of pipes, valves, and equipment to ensure integrity of coatings through proper preparation of surface and application of coating.

 Safely remove equipment from service as required and replace equipment in kind complying with Lock Out & Tag Out procedures and cleaning procedures.

 Safely operate equipment and tools as directed and designed to perform assigned duties.**

 Clean job site, ensure all equipment, tools and materials are returned to proper place.

 Follow company policies and comply with company regulations. Cooperate and support colleagues.

 Participate on site’s ERT team and attend training as required.

 Participate in sites safety observation, audit, and improvement programs as required.

OTHER FUNCTIONS

 In case of absence, the employee’s supervisor will assume and/or assign responsibility for this position’s duties.

 Perform other job related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School diploma or equivalent.

• Intellectual ability to learn and apply a practical knowledge of chemical products and detailed procedures.

• Ability to read schematic drawings, PFD’s, P&ID’s, Tank Plans etc.

• Ability to effectively use computer tools. Must be IT literate.

• Basic mathematical ability & observation of safety rules.

• Basic instrument, mechanical and electrical knowledge / ability to apply.

• Recognition of the need for continued learning.

• Ability to accept close supervision and understand the limitations imposed to maintain an adequate margin against error.

• After 40 hours of experience in operations, during which time the incumbent has gained the ability to recognize a wide variety of products by sight, physical properties or label.

• Knowledgeable of safety precaution and special handling requirements of each product.

• Trained in safety and emergency procedures.

• Trained in fire- fighting and a member of the facility ‘Emergency Response Team’.

• Working with persons from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds.

• Looks for opportunities to increase performance, improve efficiencies and reduce costs.

• Meet the necessary prerequisites to be issued with a ‘TWIC’ (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) Card.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

• Close proximity to hazardous petrochemicals.

• Performs ‘strenuous’ physical labor.

• Works outside in all weather conditions with protective gear: (rubber boots and slicker) and safety equipment (facial hair restricted because of required use of respirator) when handling chemicals.

• In Emergency wears ‘Bunker Gear’ and SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus,).

• Potential for exposure to hazards is present.

• Climb on ladders to various heights. Working from heights (on tanks, rail cars, trucks etc.).

• Carry/handle heavy objects - hoses, nozzles, etc.

• Lifting 20 – 50lb on regular basis.

• Pulling e.g. pulling large ropes from Ocean going vessels during mooring / unmooring.

• Bending/stooping on regular basis.

• Walking/standing for long periods of time.

• Able to work indoors and outdoors regardless of weather conditions and / or temperature.

• Work in potentially ‘high noise’ environment with hearing protection.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Highly Observant and cognizant at all times of personal, personnel, terminal and environmental safety issues.

• Able to work a rotating 12/12 shift, weekends, holidays, overtime as required and on-call.

• Additional / Overtime hours as required directed by Operations Manager or Lead Operator

• Travel to Houston or other locations may be required from time to time. Annual travel to attend courses, such as safety courses, fire courses, Hazmat courses etc. may also be required remote from the Terminal or State

• All / Any other equipment at the Terminal as directed by the Superintendent after proper training has been received in the safe use of such equipment.
