The Opportunity
MICHELIN Connected Fleet, Powered by NexTraq, a subsidiary of Michelin North America, is looking for a Mobile Electronic Installation Technician. This role will be responsible for quality installation of our solutions across the US market. You must have the ability to analyze complex diagrams and installation guides, with extensive knowledge of the MCF products and solutions, to provide a quality experience to our Fleet customers. It is essential that the Installation Technician provides exception and professional service at all times. This role will be expected to travel throughout the country and be on-site at customer locations weekly.

What You’ll Do

  • Achievement of “right first time” quality installation metrics
  • Train and oversee the performance of third-party installation partners
  • Keep teams updated with all current processes and procedures.
  • Manage the relationship with the internal key stakeholders, Customer Service, Pre-sales and the Deployment team
  • Ensure that the team prioritize the requests from the internal stakeholders
  • Be a technical installation expert for all the MCF solutions and tooling
  • Continue to develop all relevant product knowledge and skills and attend training

whenever deemed necessary.

  • Support the eLearning team to produce the eLearning materials
  • Coach the installation partners technicians in line with the eLearning documentation
  • Technical validation and approval of the eLearning documentation
  • Provide telephone or video technical support for the partner technicians
  • Build and maintain relationships with product and vehicle manufacturers
  • Understand at all times, demonstrate and adhere to MCF behaviors and

values.

  • Adhere to Company Policy at all times.
  • Undertake site surveys and create installation specifications to support the Pre-sales teams
  • Support the customer service team to cover jobs as and when required to ensure that

we meet the customer’s requirements

Qualifications

  • Completion of Post-Secondary education or equivalent experience
  • 3-5 plus years of experience as an Automotive service technician
  • Strong knowledge of 12 Volt electrical fundamentals with a minimum 2 years of installation experience of automotive electronics accessory components
  • Installation experience with AVL GPS / Fleet Telemetric Systems, remote starters and security systems, as well as car audio
  • Must possess a strong understanding of 12 volt automotive fundamentals
  • Must have tools of trade (e.g. multi meter, logic probe, hand tools)
  • Must possess a good technical problem solving ability and mechanical mindset
  • Must have ability to diagnose electrical problems and determine the root cause of the failure
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Time management skills including an ability to work in a fast-paced all weather environments, managing multiple projects while meeting deadlines under pressure
  • Conflict management and escalation management experience
  • Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing

The Ideal Candidate

  • Self-starter, energetic, highly motivated and independent; ability to navigate through challenges and ambiguity with confidence
  • Knowledge of various vehicle electrical communication systems (CAN, Multiplex)
  • Automotive standard of excellence certification (ASE), A6, A9, L2, L3, H6, S6, and/or T6 is an asset
  • Mobile Electronics Certified Professional (MECP) is an asset
  • Experience working with third party vendors is strongly preferred
  • Experience in vehicle diagnostics, technical equipment installation, or equivalent educational background
  • Strong customer focus
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite of products
