SUMMARY: Work with Executive Chef to create a Farm-to-Table signature cuisine that defines the Sunrise Ranch dining experience. This full-time position requires a qualified individual with strong culinary and leadership skills, an ability to grasp the overview of all kitchen operations, and proven kitchen management.
WORK AVAILABILITY: 32-40 hours per week, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
SALARY RANGE: $25/hour
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be responsible for assisting the Executive Chef in daily operations.
- Have love and passion for food in a farm-to-table setting.
- Have interest and ability to create and maintain a loving atmosphere, recognizing that the kitchen is the heart of the home and is a sacred temple.
- Uphold high culinary standards in executing and developing farm-to-table cuisine and menus.
- Assure quality control and minimize waste.
- Be knowledgeable in safety and sanitation procedures; Servsafe Certification a plus.
- Assist in ordering and inventory management, and work with Head Chef and Senior Sous Chef to maintain budgets.
- Assist Senior Sous Chef with developing a cleaning schedule and other systems to maintain overall cleanliness.
- Be receptive to direction and feedback.
- Maintain professional standards and best practices in the Kitchen.
- Assist in working with the Accounting Department to stay within operating budget.
- Control food cost, portions and inventory.
- Assist with quarterly inventory.
- Use ingredients creatively as reflected in the weekly menu.
- Develop, test, and record new recipes that reflect our signature cuisine.
- Work with the Dining Room Hostess to maintain food service protocols.
- Maintain control and cleanliness over the trash, recycling, and compost areas.
- Supervise and train Kitchen personnel to deliver high-quality meals for up to 350 guests.
- Always maintain a clean and safe work environment.

o Clear, supportive surround for guests, visitors and staff
- Perform other essential duties as assigned.
- Culinary degree a plus, or degree in food nutrition.
- Ability to do scratch cooking.
- Two-year minimum experience in a supervisory or management role in a food industry setting.
- Awareness of health department regulations and requirements.
- Ability to use computer, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google-based platform for email and calendar.
- Servsafe Certification a plus.
- Wide range of experience with specialty diets (vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, etc.).
- Experience working with whole foods, legumes and various cereal grains.
- Thorough understanding of various nutrition models.

- Physical requirements
- Able to stand for long periods of time and endure environmental conditions (hot and cold)
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds, pushing and pulling.
- Able to use standard ware-washing chemicals.
