WHAT WE NEED:

Electrical Engineer (On-Site)

The Electrical Engineer is primarily responsible for providing electrical technical support for turnarounds, electrical outages, electrical innovation, and quality/technical assurance for local capital projects. The Electrical Engineer supports the site electrical engineering team to ensure safe and reliable operations, acts as the first level technical resource to electrical inspectors and specialists to assist in the resolution of problems and development of solutions and coordinates support with other technical groups, projects group, and Operations. This position is at one of our client sites in Geismar, La.

The Electrical Engineer shall be proactive in creating and maintaining an appropriate level of communications with Geismar Site organizations to ensure proper support is provided for turnarounds, electrical outages, and supported capital projects. The position may support multiple units, have opportunities to collaborate with other disciplines, and implement new electrical technologies.

NOTE: This position may be worked hybrid - partly remote with a minimum of 4-5 days onsite at Geismar location per month. Alternative hybrid agreement must be approved by the site Electrical Engineering Manager.


Responsibilities:

  • Determines repetitive, problem electrical issues to be entered and scored as MTOs. Write TACTICs and proceed through the Capital Projects Process.
  • Perform SmartM/PTM monitoring, trending; eTAP modeling and updates for all units.
  • Assist in developing, integrating, planning, executing, and driving electrical strategies / tactics.
  • Support MOC process for unit(s) assigned as a PEC, technical reviewer, Hazard Assessment participant, PSSR participant, and completing action items as required.
  • Assist in reviewing electrical switching procedures to ensure quality and accurate details
  • Support local capital projects for electrical discipline technical assurance from assess through start up and commissioning. Ensure to follow the Geismar Capital Projects Process.
  • Ensure electrical drawings are up to date as are site electrical procedures
  • Perform periodic assessments and QA on site electrical vendors, suppliers, and manufacturers. Provide feedback to team, site electrical engineering manager, and Supply Chain.
  • Maintain site electrical power management system. Calculate monthly electrical billing and ensure accuracy. Troubleshoot issues within the system. Assistance by Specialist EHT/Innovation.
  • Ensure projects and MOCs meet applicable Geismar procedures specifications, Shell DEPs, NEC, NFPA 70E, OSHA standards and other standards as defined by the project design
  • Technically Assure Asset of the Future for Electrical Engineering
  • Maintain EET Asset of Future Strategy
  • Specify digital / remote monitoring equipment
  • Meet with vendors for remote monitoring equipment and alternative
  • Enter MTOs, TACTICs, and follow viable Asset of the Future projects through the Local Capital Project process.
  • Project support includes:
  • MTO input, TACTIC writing
  • MOC PEC and responsibilities
  • Scope Finalization Review
  • Field Walks - pre-construction, during construction, post-construction, as needed
  • SOME Package reviews
  • IFA and IFC Package reviews
  • FAT, as required
  • Project Field support
  • Project Meetings
  • Technical / equipment data and assurance
  • Release acceptance / PSSR / Release Acceptance
  • Electrical Project related action items
  • Provide electrical technical support to site turnarounds and scheduled major electrical preventative maintenance activities (substation PM); collaborate with unit electrical inspector / specialist in resolving problems and developing solutions; coordinate support with other technical/engineering disciplines and Operations.
  • Maintain and keep up to date required training
    • Site specific training
    • Workday Learning required training
    • As required by the electrical team, which includes, but not limited to: CPR, First Aid, Geismar capital project process

WHO WE NEED:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from accredited university
  • 4+ years' experience as an Electrical Engineer in the Petrochemical Industry
  • Electrical run and maintain (preventative maintenance) and capital project experience
  • Knowledge of how a Refinery and Chemical facility operates
  • Good written and oral communication skills - ability to present complex information in a way that can be understood by a range of audiences.
  • Ability to look beyond day-to-day matters to identify solutions to medium- and long-term electrical issues
  • eTAP / electrical system modeling
  • GSAP knowledge
