Job Overview
As a Mechatronic Engineer specializing in vision control and co-bot design, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our foam processing capabilities. This position requires expertise in programming vision systems, integrating co-bots into our workflows, and optimizing our production processes. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product designers and R&D engineers, to bring innovative and performance-driven foam solutions to life.
Responsibilities
Lead, supervise, and guide a team of mechanical engineers and designers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Robotic Systems Integration: Ability to design and integrate complex robotic systems, including multi-axis manipulators, collaborative robots (co-bots), into various industrial applications.
Machine Vision and Image Processing: Proficiency in developing and implementing advanced machine vision systems, utilizing image processing algorithms, pattern recognition, and 3D vision techniques.
Control Systems Design and Optimization: Expertise in designing and optimizing control systems for precision motion control, feedback loops, and closed-loop control of robotic and mechatronic systems.
Computational Design: Employ parametric design principles, generative algorithms, and optimization techniques to drive innovation in foam engineering. Collaborate with product designers and R&D teams to develop unique and performance-driven foam solutions.
Embedded Systems and Real-Time Programming: Experience in programming and developing firmware for microcontrollers and embedded systems, ensuring real-time control and communication in mechatronic applications.
PLC and HMI Programming: Knowledge of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs) for industrial automation and process control.
Cybersecurity for Industrial Systems: Awareness of cybersecurity measures and best practices to safeguard mechatronic systems from potential cyber threats.
Apply engineering principles and formulas to designs, providing clear justifications for design decisions based on sound engineering data.
Research and Development: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in vision control, co-bot technologies, and process engineering. Contribute to ongoing research projects and identify opportunities for technology transfer to improve company capabilities.
Project Management: Take ownership of projects related to vision control, co-bot design, and process engineering. Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure timely and successful project delivery.
Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of design specifications, implementation processes, and testing procedures. Prepare technical reports and presentations to communicate project outcomes and progress.
Conduct thorough analysis of mechanical systems and collaborate closely with the mechanical build team during the construction phase.
Collaboration and Mentoring: Collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide mentorship to junior engineers. Foster a culture of knowledge-sharing and continuous learning within the engineering team.
Requirements
Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. PMP certification is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in vision control system development, co-bot design, and process engineering, preferably in the manufacturing or foam processing industry.
High proficiency in SolidWorks and SolidWorks FEA simulation software.
Robotics and Automation: Strong knowledge of robotics and automation principles, including kinematics, dynamics, and control systems.
CAD and Simulation: Experience with computer-aided design (CAD) software and simulation tools for product design and process optimization.
Analytical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems, propose creative solutions, and implement effective engineering strategies.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and present technical information clearly.
Travel: Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time for project-related activities and collaboration with international partners.
