Quality Assurance Inspector


Role Summary:

The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for ensuring products comply with specifications, industry standards, and customer requirements. The person in this position carries out visual inspections and instrumental measurements for first part inspection, in-process, receiving, and final inspection. They will be expected to maintain quality department records that document compliance.


Schedule

2nd Shift: 3:00 pm to 11:00 pm, Monday - Friday


Areas of Accountability:

  • Inspect production in Molding and Secondary Operations and has the authority to accept/reject received goods, production start-ups, in-process production, assembly, rework, repair operations, and completed production.
  • Inspect first runs of production in Molding and Secondary operations and communicate results to set-up personnel to aid them in achieving compliance with requirements.
  • Complete periodic in-process inspections of production in Molding and Secondary Operations.
  • Dimensionally and visually inspect piece parts and assemblies for adherence to customer requirements using inspection tools, gauging, and retained sample parts.
  • Complete and maintain documentation related to quality inspections.
  • Issue reject reports in the form of an RMA (Return Material Authorization) for non-conforming production.
  • Help communicate quality standards and be available to answer quality related questions to production personnel.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager and/or supervisor.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Ability to use basic measurement instruments such as tape measure, calipers, height gauge, micrometer.
  • Minimum of six months manufacturing and/or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to read instruction sheets independently.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail in quality.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - ability to work between multiple departments.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Open to learning, receiving coaching, and following direction.
  • Previous quality control experience required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous plastic injection molding experience is a plus.
  • Ability to read technical data dealing with inspection, blueprints, procedures, etc.
