Job Summary:

The Manufacturing Lab Technician is responsible for VMRD product manufacturing.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Follows all policies, protocols, and SOPs
  • Prepares lab reagents
  • Packages and labels product
  • Produces ELISA kits - plate coating, optimization
  • Performs cell culture, virus culture, bacterial culture, culture of microorganisms
  • Performs protein purification - Salt precipitation, ion exchange chromatography, size restriction, affinity matrix, etc.
  • Performs protein evaluation - BCA quantitation, spectrophotometric analysis
  • Performs protein conjugation - FITC, HRP
  • Performs compounding - making buffers, sterile filtration, making dilutions, making pools, making aliquots
  • Runs and interprets assays - IFA, AGID, ELISA, RID
  • Performs in-process quality control and monitoring
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date records of work performed
  • Calibrates, operates, and maintains equipment
  • Develops and updates SOPs as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Desired Qualifications and Experiences:

Education, Licenses and Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • BS candidate in microbiology, biology or related field preferred

Physical Requirements for the Job:

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time

Pay Range Data:

  • We anticipate filling this position of Lab Associate at an hourly rate between $20.00 and $24.00 per hour. Our pay ranges are determined by job responsibility and regional benchmarks. We base our starting pay offer and title on job-related factors such as candidate experience, training, knowledge, and skills. The range listed is just one component of VMRD's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include bonuses.
