About the Role

As a Survey Technician, you be responsible for conducting surveys at mine sites and obtaining data used in planning mining operations.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

  • GPS layout and as-built of blast patterns, projects and other important mining features
  • Drone flight planning, execution and processing
  • Mine design compliance assistance
  • Monitoring of prisms on property using a total station
  • Survey analysis
  • Stockpile measuring and reporting
  • Water level monitoring
  • Terrestrial LIDAR scanning and processing

Knowledge & Experience

  • Technical training involving GPS and Total Station equipment.
  • Understanding of coordinate geometry
  • Strong work drive and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Moderate computer skills with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to speak, comprehend, read, and write English fluently.
  • Prior exposure to mine software or AutoCad is preferred.
  • Knowledge of open pit mining is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a copper operation strongly preferred.

Physical Demands of the Role

  • This role is a physically demanding position. Generally 70% field environment and 30% office environment.
  • Ability to stand and walk for long durations, including walking across uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to kneel, crawl, stoop, and squat, occasionally in confined spaces.
