Swimming Lesson Instructor
Midwest Pool Management - Kansas City is hiring swimming lesson instructors for the 2024 summer season. MPM-KC manages swimming pools all over the Kansas City metro area, offering tons of fun for the citizens of the KC area, clients we serve, and the employees we take care of. Below is a list of requirements to join our award-winning team at MPM-KC:
- All applicants must be 16 years of age or older by the start date.
- Keep the pool safe. The first, and most important, responsibility of all swim lesson instructors is to promote safety by preventing accidents, as well as having the confidence and ability to perform a rescue when necessary.
- Be Professional. You represent Midwest Pool Management as well as the facility you are working at. We expect you to always present yourself in a professional manner, through both your appearance and attitude. A good work ethic is an important quality, one which all employers expect. All staff members must wear the required Company uniform while on duty. The required uniform includes, but is not limited to staff shirt, sunglasses, hat or visor, and water bottle.
- Have knowledge of swim lesson material:
- Ability to demonstrate Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Sidestroke, and Elementary Backstroke.
- Ability to tread water for 1 minute.
- For older levels, ability to demonstrate front standing dive, open turns, and flip turns.
- Ability to demonstrate surface dive and swim under water for 10 yards.
- Have general knowledge of all levels and follow all guidelines of our swim lesson curriculum.
- Always review skills from previous day.
- Begin and end class on time. Arrive 10 minutes before each class so you can have time to set up supplies and have lesson plans ready to go.
- Maintain safety at all times. Never leave class unattended.
- Set class expectations before the start of lessons and enforce those expectations.
- Make sure all paperwork is filled out as needed daily. This includes attendance and skills for each student.
- Introduce yourself to parents and be willing to discuss their child's progress.
- At the end of each session, complete a progress report or certificate for every student in the class and have parents fill out an evaluation form.
- Treat all patrons kindly with respect.
- Enforce the pool rules consistently.
- Keep the pool(s) AND surrounding facilities clean.
- Know your schedule and arrive at work on time.
- Swim Lesson Instructors must be able to swim.
- Have a positive and productive attitude, and most of all HAVE FUN
