Location: New York

Schedule: Per diem

Pay Range: $125 - $135/hr

Job Summary

As a Civil Surgeon or Immigration Medical Examiner, you will conduct comprehensive medical examinations for individuals applying for immigration benefits, ensuring they meet health requirements set by immigration authorities. You will review medical histories, administer necessary diagnostic tests and vaccinations, and identify any communicable diseases or health issues. Similarly, you will accurately complete and certify immigration medical examination forms, providing detailed reports of their findings. Additionally, you will counsel patients on health-related issues and treatment plans to help them meet immigration health standards.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conducting Medical Examinations: Performing comprehensive medical examinations for individuals applying for immigration benefits, ensuring all health requirements are met according to immigration laws and regulations.

  • Reviewing Medical History: Assessing and documenting the patient's medical history, including vaccinations, prior illnesses, surgeries, and current medications, to ensure they meet the health standards required for immigration.

  • Performing Diagnostic Tests: Administering necessary diagnostic tests and screenings, such as tuberculosis skin tests, blood tests, and other relevant exams to identify any communicable diseases or health issues.

  • Vaccination Administration: Ensuring that all required vaccinations are up-to-date, administering any necessary vaccines, and providing documentation of immunization status as required by immigration authorities.

  • Completing and Certifying Forms: Accurately completing and certifying immigration medical examination forms (such as Form I-693 for the United States), providing a detailed report of the examination findings, and submitting them to the appropriate immigration authorities.

  • Counseling and Advising Patients: Providing counseling and advice to patients on health-related issues, treatment plans for any identified conditions, and information on maintaining good health, especially in the context of meeting immigration health requirements.



Job RequirementsEducation and Experience:
  • Completion of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school and New York State.

  • Licensed to practice as a Physician/MD/DO in New York.

  • Designation as a Civil Surgeon by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or eligibility to obtain designation.

  • Experience in conducting medical examinations for immigration purposes preferred.

  • Also, completion clinical rotations in various medical specialties, such as urgent care, surgery, pediatrics, emergency medicine, occupational medicine, and women’s health.

  • Current Certifications in BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Infection Control Training with a strong understanding of HIPAA Compliance.

  • Valid DEA Registration and CDL and Suboxone certification are preferred.

  • Valid Medication Administration Training (MAT) Certificate.

  • Experience in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

  • Strong candidates will work well with an interdisciplinary team of clinicians and allied health professionals and carry out the mission of Nao Medical through clarity, thoughtfulness, and respect for all.

  • Bilingual skills (Spanish and English) are preferred, but not required.
