Job Summary
During the school day, the Teacher Assistant– Bus Aide provides support to students who have learning, emotional, and developmental challenges. Before or after school the Teacher Assistant/ Bus Aid, supervises the students in the morning or the afternoon bus rides.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Essential Duties
  • Following the teacher’s instruction, circulate through the classroom checking students’ work and providing assistance in completing assignments.
  • Support the classroom team in the development/implementation/fulfillment of the students’ goals, IEP goals, and objectives, especially as they pertain to problem solving and behavior.
  • Attend conferences with the families, as necessary.
  • Provide active supervision during all recreational activities, as well during breakfast and lunch.
  • Assist with tracking attendance, calling parents, and managing the classroom PBIS Program.

Student
  • Remain within physical proximity of assigned student(s) at all times.
  • Assist with individual student’s emotional/psychological needs.
  • Monitor students on school transportation bus on morning and/or afternoon route as assigned.
  • Maintain professional appearance, demeanor, and boundaries.

Other Duties
  • Comply with ECF’s Injury and illness Prevention Program. Ensure safe use and operation of tools and/or equipment.
  • Comply with ECF policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirements.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.
  • Attend and participate in ECF Kayne Eras School in-service training sessions, staff meetings, weekly core and/or team meetings, programs and activities as requested.
  • Perform reasonably related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

Qualifications
Education/Licenses/Certifications: High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience: One year working with children with special needs, learning, behavioral, emotional and/or developmental disabilities in a direct service capacity.

Requirements
  • Valid California driver’s license, reliable transportation, evidence of car insurance, and insurable driving record.
  • Pass a DOJ background investigation.
  • Provide evidence of a negative TB test initially and every three years thereafter.
  • Pass a pre-employment physical.
  • Comply with ECF’s Injury and Illness Prevention Program. Ensure safe use and operation of tools and/or equipment.
  • Comply with ECF policies and procedures, including mandated reporting requirements.
  • Ability to implement/perform First Aid/CPR/NCI
