JOB SUMMARY: The Virginia Insurance Counseling and Assistance Program (VICAP) Counselor is responsible for providing information and counseling to Medicare beneficiaries and providing assistance with the application process for Low Income Subsidy and Medicare Savings Programs. The VICAP Counselor also performs clerical functions such as answering the phone, making appointments, data entry, and maintaining and filing monthly reports.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide information that may assist consumers in obtaining benefits and filing claims under Medicare, including Part D, and Medicaid.
• Inform beneficiaries about Low Income Subsidy and Medicare Savings Programs and assist with the application process.
• Provide information and counseling on Medicare supplemental policies, Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Part D.
• Educate beneficiaries about Medicare wellness and preventive benefits and Medicare fraud.
• Complete paperwork/data entry and monthly reporting in a timely manner.
• Answer VICAP calls and make appointments.
