A Traveling Agricultural Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing construction projects within the agricultural sector across various locations including South Dakota, North Dakota, and Montana. This role involves managing the development, construction, and/or renovation of buildings and facilities such as barns, storage structures, greenhouses, and other infrastructure critical to commercial farming and agricultural operations.

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Traveling Agricultural Construction Manager to lead and oversee our agricultural construction projects across multiple sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction management, with specific experience in agricultural or related rural projects. This role requires extensive travel to ensure that each project is executed efficiently, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Plan, direct, and coordinate construction projects from conception to completion, tailored to the agricultural sector. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget
  • Site Supervision: Travel to various project sites to supervise construction activities. Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with safety regulations, building codes, and environmental laws
  • Contract Management: Negotiate contracts with vendors, contractors, and suppliers. Ensure all parties fulfill their contractual obligations.
  • Budget Management: Prepare and oversee project budgets, including tracking expenditures and ensuring financial accountability
  • Quality Assurance: Implement quality control programs to ensure that construction meets or exceeds standards. Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and government entities. Provide regular updates and reports on project status.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage construction teams, subcontractors, and temporary workers. Provide training, set expectations, and ensure a high level of performance.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve issues that arise during the construction process, including delays, safety concerns, and budget constraints.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Agriculture, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Construction Manager, with a preference for those with experience in agricultural construction projects.
  • 10+ years of experience in construction project management (strongly preferred)
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, safety regulations, and building codes with particular focus on concrete work and framing.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively to project sites, including rural and remote locations.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools.
