Job Description:



Position Overview:

As a Residential Counselor at HIZwill Agency DDA, you will play a crucial role in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving their goals, enhancing their quality of life, and promoting their independence. You will work in a residential setting, providing personalized care, guidance, and emotional support to residents in a compassionate and professional manner.


Key Responsibilities:


  1. Client Care and Support:
    • Provide direct care and support to residents in accordance with their Individualized Service Plans (ISP).
    • Assist residents with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and transportation.
    • Foster a safe and supportive living environment that promotes independence and personal growth.
    • Offer emotional support and actively listen to residents' concerns and needs.
  2. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client progress, incidents, and observations.
    • Prepare and submit reports as required by agency policies and regulatory standards.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure the coordination of care and adherence to client-specific plans.
  3. Behavioral Support:
    • Implement behavior support plans and strategies to address challenging behaviors.
    • Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation when necessary, following agency protocols.
    • Collaborate with Behavior Analysts and other professionals to develop and modify behavior support plans.
  4. Community Integration:
    • Facilitate community outings and activities to promote socialization and inclusion.
    • Encourage residents' participation in community events, educational programs, and recreational opportunities.
  5. Advocacy and Education:
    • Advocate for the rights and preferences of residents, ensuring their voices are heard and respected.
    • Educate residents on personal safety, self-advocacy, and life skills to enhance their independence.

Qualifications:


  • High school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred).
  • Previous experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or a similar population is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Empathy, patience, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards (DDA regulations, HIPAA, etc.).
