QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Passing score (450) on the ParaPro Exam, preferred
JOB GOAL: Under the supervision and direction of the Special Education Teacher; the Special Education Paraprofessional provides assistance in performing a variety of tasks relating to the behavioral and instructional needs of students in a classroom setting. This is an entry-level position to provide support to students at ACE.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 11 Month
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION: Annually
COMPENSATION: $10 Hourly DOE
DUTIES:
- Obtain and maintain CPR and CPI certification
- Implement behavior strategies aligned with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
- Consistently perform job responsibilities, utilize time wisely, and adhere to ACE Employee Handbook policies
- Maintain professional conduct and appearance
- Demonstrate competence in assigned areas of responsibility
- Complete and submit all required forms, reports, documentation, and training according to ACE policies and procedures
- Show mastery and enthusiasm for best practices in autism education and ABA
- Communicate courteously and professionally with co-workers and stakeholders
- Work independently, coordinating multiple tasks simultaneously
- Exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support academic instruction and behavior plans as part of the classroom team.
- Provide supplemental support for academic lessons as directed by the teacher, including aiding in independent work, special projects, and small group lessons.
- Follow tier one behavioral supports and behavior plans under supervision.
- Assist students with classroom routines, transitions, and self-care tasks as needed.
- Collect data on behavior and academics as instructed.
- Work in assigned classroom and be available for substitution when necessary.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities.
- Uphold and enforce school culture, rules, and regulations.
- Foster positive social interactions among students.
- Approach situations with optimism and perseverance.
- Obtain and maintain CPI certification.
- Implement behavior strategies aligned with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
- Adhere to policies outlined in the ACE Employee Handbook.
- Maintain professional conduct and appearance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration.
PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain professional appearance per ACE dress code
- Attend work regularly, report on time, and provide advance notice of absences
- Complete work efficiently and accurately within deadlines, including data collection
- Perform job responsibilities consistently, use time wisely, and care for materials and equipment as per ACE Employee Handbook
- Approach situations with optimism and perseverance
- Communicate courteously and professionally with parents, colleagues, and professional contacts
- Attend scheduled meetings and professional development sessions
- Maintain professional conduct, remain open to feedback, and apply suggestions
- Demonstrate competence in assigned areas of responsibility
- Submit all required forms, reports, documentation, and training by deadlines and in line with ACE policies
- Show mastery and enthusiasm for best practices in autism education and ABA
- Exercise reasonable judgment, maintain confidentiality, and obtain CPI and CPR certification
- Perform other duties as assigned by administration

ADA AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Positions in this class require: stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
LIGHT WORK:
Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
