Job Description:

Position Overview: The Hotel Electrician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of electrical systems within the hotel premises. They are responsible for installing, maintaining, repairing, and upgrading electrical systems and equipment to provide a safe and comfortable environment for guests and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Electrical Installations: Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, lighting systems, electrical outlets, switches, circuit breakers, and other electrical components as per building codes and safety standards.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Regularly inspect and maintain electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, distribution panels, and HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose electrical problems, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner to minimize downtime and disruptions to hotel operations.
  • Emergency Response: Respond promptly to electrical emergencies such as power outages, electrical fires, and equipment failures to mitigate risks and restore functionality as quickly as possible.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, codes, and safety standards pertaining to electrical installations and maintenance activities.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and replacements, to facilitate tracking of equipment performance and compliance.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments, contractors, and external service providers to plan and execute electrical projects, upgrades, and renovations with minimal impact on hotel operations.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a recognized apprenticeship program or vocational training in electrical systems is preferred.
  • Certification: Valid electrician license or certification issued by the relevant authority. Additional certifications in electrical safety, first aid, and CPR are desirable.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as an electrician, preferably in a hospitality or commercial setting.
  • Skills: Proficient knowledge of electrical systems, equipment, and tools. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols. Effective communication and teamwork abilities.

Working Conditions:

  • May be required to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to accommodate maintenance schedules and emergency situations.
  • The role involves working in various indoor and outdoor environments, including guest rooms, public areas, mechanical rooms, and exterior spaces, sometimes in confined or elevated spaces.
  • May be exposed to hazards such as electrical shocks, burns, falls, and hazardous materials, and must adhere to safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary.
