Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accurately calculate and process payroll for all clients, including regular pay, overtime, bonuses, and commissions.
  • Update payroll records with new hires, terminations, and changes in employee information.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations regarding payroll, taxes, and wage and hour laws.
  • Maintain and update payroll databases with employee information, deductions, and tax statuses.
  • Ensure the accuracy and confidentiality of payroll data.
  • Address and resolve payroll discrepancies, errors, and employee inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with HR to address and resolve payroll issues.
  • Administer and reconcile employee deductions, including benefits, garnishments, and other withholdings.
  • Coordinate with HR and benefits providers to ensure accurate benefit deductions and contributions.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.
  • Processes personnel action forms for new hires, position changes and terminations; verifies: calculations; budget, position and job numbers; and other information; codes and enters in the payroll system.

Other Duties

  • Assists internal and external auditors by providing supporting documentation and other information required for audit.
  • Performs quarterly and annual payroll processes including overseeing the preparation and submission of payroll tax returns; verifies student eligibility for PARS retirement participation; makes adjustments to payroll software.
  • Serves as an information resource on payroll requirements, procedures and processes; interprets payroll policies and procedures, legal requirements, bargaining unit pay-related provisions and benefits plan provisions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • 2 – 4 years Payroll / HR experience.
  • Experience with Toast Payroll would be preferrable
  • Carry out work independently, ensuring a high degree of accuracy and the timely payment of wages to employees in accordance with various deadlines and changing priorities, while ensuring excellence in customer service.
  • Prepare clear, concise and accurate reports, correspondence and other written materials.
  • Exercise a high degree of tact and diplomacy in dealing with sensitive, complex and confidential personnel issues and employee situations.
  • Maintain the confidentiality of documents and records.
  • Operate a computer and use standard business software.
