Job Description

Job Title: Bartender | Pilina | Part-time

Hourly rate: $29.47

Providing Inspired Food & Beverage to highlight the destination we represent is one of our passions.  As a Bartender in our newest bar & lounge, Pilina, you will be an ambassador of our exceptional service culture and execute the bar’s mixology program to a high level of quality and consistency. You will bring an array of serving and mixologist skills to the team and you will ensure that the bar runs smoothly and consistently. Your warm, attentive guest service and passion for mixology is worth raising a glass to.

What you will be doing:

  • Adhere to daily checklist and duties
  • Maintain exceptional consistency and attention to detail in beverage production, adhering to established recipes
  • Create a diverse range of cocktails with precision and creativity, emphasizing presentation as a work of art.
  • Utilize culinary skills to prepare garnishes, infusions, syrups, and other elements that enhance the overall cocktail experience
  • Engage with guests to understand their preferences and tailor recommendations, exceeding their expectations with our beverage offerings
  • Provide beverage service to the serving colleagues at your assigned bar/station by preparing all beverage orders in a timely and efficient manner
  • Provide food and beverage service to the guests seated at the bar.
  • Perform daily prep for bar service, including but not limited to picking up liquor, beer, wine; creating storeroom requisitions and stocking bars and service stations accordingly
  • Ensure bar and service stations are properly set up with necessary equipment and regularly replenished with necessary supplies: alcohol, ice, dishes, and utensils
  • Ensure that bar area is clean and all equipment is functional
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the service team and kitchen team to ensure a harmonious flow of food and beverage service.
  • Train venue colleagues in proper beverage preparation procedures and etiquette of the bar area (in adherence to company standards).
  • Ensure bar and liquor controls are in place and maintained by ensuring all liquor and bar stock is properly accounted for and of high quality. The use of a bar measure (jigger) is mandatory.
  • Sort empty bottles and discard in proper recycling receptacles
  • Receive and process all cash and credit card transactions from guests in an efficient and accurate manner
  • Have full knowledge of all menu items, garnishes, contents and preparation methods for all food and beverage venues on property
  • Assist venue manager with monthly inventory counting
  • Actively participate in monthly departmental sales promotions
  • Adhere to the State of Hawaii & State of Hawaii & EHC (Environmental Health Consultancy) food handling safety standards
  • Organize time so all side work is completed according to shift demand
  • Maintain atmosphere of aloha spirit by providing engaging, personalized, timely, and efficient service to our discerning guests
  • Focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
Qualifications

  • Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the English language.
  • Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process.
  • Must be service oriented and capable of communicating effectively with persons involved in all levels of authority, both internally and externally.
  • Must possess basic computational ability.
  • Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-mail functions.
  • Must have extensive beverage knowledge (wines, liquor, beer and classic cocktails).
  • Must be able to multi-task, be organized and be detail-oriented in a fast paced, high volume environment.
  • Must have ability to work independently and to prioritize or seek clarification in prioritizing work assignments.
  • Must possess superior guest service skills be a strong team player.
  • Maintain a professional working environment and attitude.

Education:

  • High School diploma (or equivalent) and/or vocational training

Experience:

  • Minimum two (2) years bartending experience in a high volume restaurant is required, preferably in a luxury hotel environment
  • Previous culinary skills with attention to presentation is an asset
  • Previous experience in inventory or stock control is an asset
  • Must have an in-depth knowledge of beverages, mixology techniques, cocktail history and drink recipes

Licenses or Certificates:           

  • TB Clearance
  • Maui County Liquor card
  • TIPS certification
  • Food Safety Certification or ServSafe Certification
