POSITION DETAILS

JOB PURPOSE

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Create and coordinate workload schedule with Production Manager.

  • Disassemble and assemble molds for scheduled mold maintenance and repair.
  • Troubleshoot production molding issues.
  • Identify and perform processes needed to complete projects.
  • Identify and coordinate with Project Manager necessary transfer of work to Foley facility and/or outsourcing.
  • Repair damaged mold components.
  • Build and/or modify fixtures or special mold components.
  • Set-up and operate manual milling machines.
  • Set-up and operate manual grinders.
  • Polishing.
  • Perform all necessary inspection to assure a quality product.
  • Maintain organized storage of all active and spare custom mold components as well as an inventory of standard mold components.
  • Order and maintain general shop/machine supplies.
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and cleaning of machines.
  • Perform duties in accordance to Quality System documentation, including the Quality Manual, Operating Procedures and Work Instructions.
  • Take necessary steps to verify work output meets company quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Assist in training new Toolroom personnel.
  • Production Floor activities as required.
  • Other duties as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS The employee is subject to normal manufacturing and office environments.

Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Five years’ experience.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Experience in injection molding facility desirable.

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS Moldmaker or Tool and Die Diploma from an accredited Technical College, or equivalent experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

REQUIRED

SKILLS • Ability to read blue prints.

  • Must be able to work independently, as well as with others.
  • Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Ability to handle the demands and pressures of job scheduling (often with short lead times).


Working knowledge of:

  • Grinders.
  • Manual mills.
  • Lathes.
  • Inspection equipment.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of specialty machining (CNC Milling, EDM, WEDM).
  • Basic knowledge and understanding CAD/CAM software.
  • The strengths and weaknesses of different machining processes.
  • General office equipment, including computers, calculators, telephones, etc.
  • General manufacturing and office procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS The employee is required to sit, move about and speak.

VISUAL ACUITY As required, with or without accommodation, for reading written documents, design prints and computer screens.

HEARING ABILITY As required, with or without accommodation, for hearing the telephone and communicating with customers, co-workers and visitors.
