  1. Position description:
    • The Landscape Crew Member must have a positive, can-do attitude, be an eager learner, be conscious of safety requirements, work effectively as a team member, dress appropriately, be punctual, follow instructions given by the Landscape Foreman or Landscape Crew Leader.
  2. Reports To:
    • Directly to the Landscape Crew Leader.
  3. Necessary skill set and educational requirements:
    • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
    • Possess a clean driver’s license and must be insurable on the company’s insurance policy.
    • Have a clean criminal record.
    • Legal documentation to verify employment eligibility.
    • Physically able to handle the workload of Landscape Foreman or Landscape Crew Lead.
    • Have full range of mobility in the upper and lower body.
    • Able to lift 75 pounds without assistance.
    • Have reliable transportation to/from work.
  4. Job Responsibilities:
    • Follow all instructions given by the Landscape Foreman or Leadman.
    • Thoroughly understands and complies with company policy and safety manuals.
    • Reports any and all unsafe conditions or accidents.
    • Properly and safely operates equipment.
    • Works in a safe manner and reports any and all unsafe conditions to foreman and/or supervisor.
    • Reports to work on time.
    • Is a willing learner who seeks to master the basic skills of landscape maintenance.
    • Reports to work in a clean, appropriate uniform and wearing the appropriate boots/shoes.
    • Able to communicate with supervisor in a timely and thorough manner.
    • Maintains a clean crew truck at all times.
    • Completes assigned tasks efficiently, thoroughly, and per company production rates.
    • Continuing education requirements: minimum of 5 hours per year

  5. Appraisal criteria:
    • The primary appraisal criteria for the Landscape Crew Member is to show up on time in the proper clean uniform, work hard, and within 90 days learn the skills necessary to properly and safely operate all hand tools and to meet company production rates.

  6. Success factors:
    • Work hard and listen to all instructions given to him by the Landscape Crew Leader.
    • Punctual.
    • Eager to learn.
    • Pay attention to detail.

  7. Professional attitude:
    • Customer-service oriented
    • Enjoys being coached and part of a team of professionals.
    • Displays a positive, “can-do” demeanor.
    • Encourages, assists, and supports fellow crewmembers.
    • Requires minimal supervision.
    • Desires to grow professionally and seek to improve personal skill sets.
    • Seeks out other professionals from whom to learn.
    • Is punctual and energetic.
    • Accepts and appreciates correctional input/feedback from fellow crewmembers.
    • Enjoys working with and contributing to a team.
    • Maintains high professional standards for neatness, discipline, self-control, and organization.
