This individual must be process driven, focused, and able to handle multiple projects with proficiency. Responsible for collecting and analyzing all project costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate. Also responsible for identifying and quantifying potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs. This position works closely with sales, project management, engineering and procurement departments.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in preparing internal cost data for customer quote proposals and contract negotiations.
  • Determine project scope and define internal process requirements based on customer RFQ’s, by serving as an interface with sales, project management, engineering and procurement departments.
  • Maintain supplier relationships to support costs required for raw materials, purchased components, capital tooling and equipment.
  • Follow the Estimating life-cycle in accordance with prescribed standards and procedures.
  • Work closely with sales group to establish quote priorities based on evaluation and analysis of overall opportunities.
  • Provide cost-estimating data for data analysis and development.
  • Research and support development of new manufacturing processes and procedures.
  • Support sales team with customer meetings/collaborations to understand the products being developed.
  • Reviews and analyzes existing and proposed processes, labor, and materials; identifies cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Determines needs for additional labor, machinery, materials, and other resources.
  • Estimates costs of new equipment or capital investment necessary for production.
  • Drafts cost estimates for projects based on current market data analysis, research and profitability; distributes reports to sales and executive leadership.


Requirements:
  • Two years of cost estimation in the engineering space or relevant experience in technical sales or finance.


EDUCATION, and/or CERTIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Engineering or related field preferred.


SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of cost accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience using 3D modeling software preferred (Catia, SolidWorks, etc.).

PLATFORM, DATABASE AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE PREFERRED:

  • Previous ERP system experience preferred.
