POSITION DESCRIPTION


Learning Facilitator (Spanish High School Teacher)


TYPE: This is a salaried, exempt status, certificated position.


LOCATION: e3 Civic High


OVERVIEW:

  • Under the direction of the Principal, Learning Facilitators provide an engaging, educating, and empowering experience to scholars. They are responsible for instructional planning and preparation, provision of a suitable classroom environment, instructional delivery, and adherence to the highest standards of professionalism. This includes a commitment to the e3 Mission, Vision, Values; the e3 Framework and Learning Model; to reflection and continuous improvement; to positive interactions and communication with all e3 stakeholders including families and staff; to punctuality, good attendance, record-keeping and attention to details.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


Planning and Preparation

  • Facilitate scholar learning (engage-educate-empower) using the e3 Framework & e3 Learning Model that incorporate the Gradual Release of Responsibility (GRR) model and other innovative learning and teaching methods and strategies 
  • Prepare curricular units and lessons using school-approved department and LF-created resources, templates and materials
  • Align curriculum, instruction and assessment for coherence and directed towards e3’s broader goals and desired outcomes
  • Prepare scholars for success on relevant formative and summative assessments
  • Use a variety of soft and hard data to monitor and measure learning;  to drive instruction and scholar services leading to desired outcomes 
  • Identify unique scholar needs and collaborate with other e3 team members and outside service providers to diagnose and address learning challenges


Classroom and Learning Environment

  • Provide a safe, respectful, inclusive, supportive, and challenging environment for scholars
  • Establish a culture of high expectations that includes scholar preparation for life success and viable post-secondary options, such as: college and career readiness and/or workforce readiness 
  • Assist with implementation of schoolwide, department or course-specific technology programs such as Dyknow, e-Hall Pass, etc.
  • Adhere to and implement all e3 Safety Plan policies, protocols, procedures, and drills with fidelity to ensure scholar, staff and community protection and wellbeing
  • Implement and reinforce e3 Way norms, policies and practices for scholars with fidelity and support 


Instruction 

  • Facilitate scholar learning (engage-educate-empower), differentiation, and personalization using a variety of research-based strategies and techniques (e.g., visual aids, Cornell notes, digital and multimedia resources, technology-integration, hands-on activities, reciprocal teaching, scaffolding, ELD strategies, manipulatives, productive group work, Project-Based Learning, etc.)
  • Facilitate scholar learning (engage-educate-empower) through a variety of strategic configurations and groupings that best meet our diverse learners’ needs (e.g., whole group, small group, and 1-on-1)
  • Facilitate academic learning, social-emotional development, team-building, and culture within Advisory course
  • Assist with administration, supervision, and implementation of MAPS testing to scholars within your department or course content areas
  • Assist with administration, supervision and implementation of schoolwide, department or course-specific educational programs such as Achieve3000, IXL, Apex, etc.


Professional Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date parent/family communication log
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date course Google Classroom, gradebook (PowerSchool), and course and scholar records
  • Teach assigned course electives that align to employee credentials, authorizations or that are approved via Local Assignment Options (LAOs)
  • Fully participate in all schoolwide, department and special-purpose Professional Learning Community (PLCs) meetings and trainings 
  • Work with support staff such as instructional tutors, SPED support providers, to meet students’ academic and social needs
  • Attend and participate in various schoolwide programs, activities, and events such as Presentations of Learning (POLs), Scholar Lead Conferences (SLCs), Back to School Night, Summer Bridge, All Family BBQ,, Home Visits, Civic Service Days, Career Speakers Week, Exhibition Days, College Tours, e3 Theatre Productions, Award Assemblies, Graduation, Summer PD Team-Building and Excursions, e3 Way Lessons and Activities, ASB activities, Movie Night, ASB Elections, Senior Fitch Day, various field trips, and others. Per e3 Employment Agreement, there is an expectation that as exempt employees, LFs will, from time to time, work some nights and weekends.
  • Adhere to and implement all e3 Employee Handbook policies, procedures, and expectations
  • Participation in special school-wide committees and meetings like School Site Council (SSC), English Learner Advisory Committee (DELAC/ELAC), and Coffee with the Principal is encouraged but not required. 
  • Provide scholar supervision during passing mods, breaks and during special events, as assigned
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS, EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited university
  • Possession of a valid California Teaching Credential or equivalent
  • English Learner Authorization (ELAS or CLAD)


OTHER EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Department of Justice (DOJ) fingerprint clearance (Placed and maintained in SDCOE Clearinghouse)
  • TB (tuberculin) clearance, as mandated by the California Education Code
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Duties require direct contact and/or supervision of children (defined as individuals under the age of 18); serves as a mandatory reporter in support of the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA).

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time 
  • Ability to work at a desk, conference table, or in meetings of various configurations 
  • Ability to see for purposes of reading printed matter and for observing scholars
  • Ability to hear and understand speech 
  • Ability to communicate clearly 
  • Ability to operate office equipment


COMPENSATION:

  • This is a salaried, exempt, certificated position and pay is according to the Learning Facilitator Salary Schedule (Step & Column), dependent on level of education and experience.
  • Years of experience for initial salary schedule placement can be negotiated up to all years of previous credentialed employment.
  • LFs regularly scheduled for 30 hours or more weekly are eligible for our generous and comprehensive benefit package (medical, dental, vision, chiropractic), an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), Short and Long-Term Disability, and Life Insurance; CalSTRS Retirement.
