Job DescriptionJob Description

CAD Engineer: Responsible for creating, developing, and optimizing 3D models and engineering drawings using CAD software to support product development, and efficient manufacturing processes. The CAD Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet customer specifications, quality standards, and project timelines. This role involves designing, implementing, and optimizing production systems to enhance overall efficiency and product quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings for new products, components, and assemblies using CAD software.
  • Develop and modify designs and manufacturing processes based on project requirements, specifications, and feedback from engineering and production teams.
  • Apply lean manufacturing principles to identify and analyze production issues, providing solutions to streamline processes, enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Actively participate in assigned training programs to enhance skills and knowledge in quality assurance and production practices.
  • Provide technical support to production teams to ensure smooth and efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and corrective actions to resolve quality issues and prevent recurrence.
  • Assist in the development and testing of prototypes to validate design concepts and performance.
  • Manage multiple design projects simultaneously from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation and work instructions, including CAD files, technical drawings, and design change records.
  • Communicate effectively with production management, quality control personnel, and stakeholders to gather requirements, provide updates, and address design-related issues.
  • Perform maintenance on department equipment as required; and maintain a clean, organized work area to promote efficiency, safety, and a positive work environment.

Location: Wayland, MI – Manufacturing Facility

Category: Non-exempt employee, full time

Shift: First (8:00 am – 4:30 pm)


Qualified candidates will possess the following minimum requirements:

  • Due to ITAR requirements, we can only consider American Citizens for this position.
  • Must have at least 20/20 vision – with vision correction aides (i.e. glasses, contacts)
  • Must be able to remain seated for extended periods and operate resources with arms and hands
  • Must be able to pass a 5-panel drug screen that includes marijuana
  • Attention to detail is a must, along with the ability to ignore distractions while working
