What will you do as a PMC Ultrasound Tech

The Ultrasound Technician performs sonographic procedures to assist in the diagnosis of disease. The Ultrasound Sonographer works effectively with patients and patient’s families and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel.

A day in the life of a PMC Ultrasound Tech may include:

· Performs ultrasound procedures as prescribed by a PMC physician, NP, or PA.

· Obtains diagnostic sonographic images by scanning the appropriate body part of the patient with the scan head.

· Positions patients for the proper view of the affected area.

· Selects the appropriate scan images to be recorded on film.

· Instructs patients as to the proper physiological requirements for the procedure.

· Provides adequate patient immobilization to perform the scan.

· Sends diagnostic ultrasound exams to the radiologist for his/her interpretation.

· Produces hard copies which are stored on 14 x 17 film. These are printed on a Fuji Drypix 5000 printer.

· Assists in the transfer of the patient to and from a wheelchair to the sono exam table.

· Obtains essential information from patients, medical records, and previous scans for clinical correlation.

· Correlates pathological findings with sonogram results.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Associates degree in ultrasound or equivalent
• RDMS registered or registry eligible.
• Certified BLS or completion in first 90 days of employment required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience with as an ultra sound sonographer. Previous experience in the production of sonograms meeting physician expectations. Knowledge of ultrasound exam policies, protocols.

Shift: Day Shift (Monday through Friday) no weekends or holidays

Pay Type: Hourly (Non-Exempt)
