The Bridge Design Technician supports the design and production of transportation design projects that enhance the safety and quality of life of the travelling public and provides critical infrastructure for commerce and economic development of communities.

PEC's Transportation team provides a multitude of services including transportation planning, roadway and bridge design, traffic engineering and construction administration. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Utilize CAD software to produce bridge concept exhibits, working drawings and final construction plans, with ability to use the drafting tools to their full capabilities.
  • Communicates and coordinates with Team Lead, Project Managers and Engineers to complete drafting tasks on numerous projects.
  • Gathers, manipulates, organizes, archives and retrieves project information in a repeatable and efficient manner.
  • Retains knowledge and builds on previous experiences to increase capabilities and productivity, focusing on standardizing practices to increase efficiencies.
  • Ability to organize and handle multiple project assignments.
  • Reviews project submittals for compliance with drafting standards.
  • Opportunity to participate in and/or become certified Team Leader in In-Service Bridge inspections.

Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of CAD production software.
  • Familiarity with Microstation/Bentley design products and DOT formats is preferred.
  • Ability to read and understand plans.
  • Understanding of conventional field surveys, notes and processing of electronic field data is preferred.
  • Meet and understand critical deadlines through efficient time management.
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interest or experience in In-Service Bridge Inspections preferred.
