Camp practice enjoys the enthusiasm of young people, the serenity of campfires, and a sunrise over the lake.Qualifications
- RN, LPN degree or Emergency Medical Technician certification
- Flexible — able to adapt to different environments and schedules
- Confidence in nursing skills
- Responsible, hard-working
- Good bedside manner, friendly and personable
- Strong assessment abilities
- Prior experience with children (does not have to be in a medical capacity)
- Enjoy an active lifestyle
- Team player
- Willing to obtain appropriate state licensure (camp will reimburse)
- School nurse, ER, and/or pediatric unit experience preferred, but not required
- Nurses with families are welcome
- The pay scale is between $1600-$1800 per week, depending on experience
- Nurses who bring their own cars will be reimbursed for travel expenses to camp
- Administer camper (and staff) prescription medications as directed
- Dispense over-the-counter medications as appropriate
- Assess campers and staff who are ill or injured and determine if further medical attention is needed
- Assist in stabilizing campers and staff requiring transportation to medical facilities
- Contact parents of ill or injured campers and staff (if appropriate) and update them as necessary
- Review camper medical records
- Document all injuries and care rendered: This involves documentation of all over-the-counter medicines, first aid treatment, communication with parents, doctors, or any other off-camp facilities.
- Maintain inventory of supplies
- Keep infirmary clean and organized (with assistance of housecleaning staff)
- Report to the camp owner and receive guidance from the camp doctor
- Rotate responsibilities for the overnight shift of 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
- Have three days off: one day from 12 p.m. until 12 a.m. and two days from 3:00 p.m until 12:00 a.m.
- Summer Session 2024 dates are approximately June 12-August 15.
- Reside on camp premises
