Porter Steel is a structural steel fabricator. We are looking for a shipping manger and forklift operators. Material produced from this plan can be as big as 50ft and weigh 10,000lbs but most material is between 10ft and 30ft and weigh 2,000lbs. We are a growing company that treats employees like partners. Looking for candidates that have experience with the list below.
  • Handle and move material and equipment as required.
  • Load and unload trucks and trailers. Load and unload paint racks.
  • Band steel to pallets and in bundles using the banding machine.
  • Operate forklifts, manlifts, and overhead cranes in a safe manner.
  • Supervise operation of all applicable equipment.
  • Supervision of yard and paint employees.
  • Keep painting, loading and unloading on schedule.
  • Inventory and order paint supplies and stock, check lists for upcoming jobs
  • Report issues to Logistics and Maintenance Manager
  • Assigning work in Logistics and Maintenance Managers absence
  • Safety of all operators and yard personnel.
  • Final Quality Control Check on all finished products, including proper paint, legible piece marks, and legible job name
  • Load/Unload and Check inventory on all outgoing/incoming deliveries
  • Arrange scrap metal dumpster swap out when full
  • Inspect yard, keep it neat, orderly
  • Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.
  • Works well independently and with others.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Organized with attention to detail.
