Job Summary:
A Physical Therapist (PT) provides services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease. They work closely with patients to develop customized rehabilitation programs that improve their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Patient Assessment:
    • Conduct thorough physical examinations to diagnose the patient's physical condition.
    • Review patient medical histories and any referrals or notes from doctors or surgeons.
  2. Treatment Planning:
    • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient evaluations and diagnoses.
    • Set realistic and achievable goals for patients and provide a timeline for recovery.
  3. Therapeutic Interventions:
    • Utilize exercises, stretching maneuvers, hands-on therapy, and equipment to ease patients’ pain and help them increase their mobility.
    • Provide guidance and education on exercises, techniques, and lifestyle changes that can aid recovery and prevent further injury.
  4. Patient Education and Support:
    • Educate patients and their families about the recovery process and home care plans.
    • Encourage and motivate patients to adhere to their treatment plans and maintain a positive attitude towards their recovery.
  5. Progress Monitoring and Adjustment:
    • Regularly monitor and document patient progress.
    • Adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure optimal outcomes.
  6. Collaboration and Coordination:
    • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, and occupational therapists, to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
    • Attend and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.
  7. Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate patient records, including detailed notes on treatment and progress.
    • Comply with relevant laws, regulations, and policies regarding patient care and documentation.
  8. Continuing Education:
    • Stay up to date with the latest research and techniques in physical therapy.
    • Participate in professional development opportunities and attend relevant workshops or conferences.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program.
  • Licensure/ Certification: Valid state license to practice physical therapy. Driver’s License. CPR Certification
  • Experience: Prior clinical experience through internships or previous employment preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
    • Empathy and patience.
    • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Physical stamina to assist patients and demonstrate exercises.
Work Environment:
  • Settings: Home Care
  • Hours: Typically, full-time, Part-time, Contract with some evening or weekend hours depending on patient needs.
Salary:
  • Up to $75.00 per hour
