Pharmacist in Charge

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Pharmacist in Charge to join our team at Leo's Drug Store. As the Pharmacist in Charge, you will be responsible for overseeing all pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements, providing exceptional patient care, and managing a pharmacy staff.

Essential Functions

• Provides consultation on all aspects of the provision of pharmacy services at Catalina Island Health's retail drug store.
• Assist to identify, evaluate, and address/resolve pharmaceutical concerns and issues that affect patient care, medical care, and quality of life.
• Guides the selection and use of medications in accordance with the authorized prescriber's orders, applicable state and federal requirements, manufacturers' specifications, characteristics of the patient population, and individual patient conditions.
• Ensure the accuracy and appropriateness of all prescriptions filled by completing Drug Utilization Review and Final Quality Assurance, applicable to state and federal Board of pharmacy regulations.
• Oversees the performance of all pharmacists and pharmacy technicians including hiring, disciplinary action, scheduling, team building, performance evaluations, etc.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care and medication therapy management.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation of pharmacy activities.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and lead a team.
• Follow all HIPAA regulations.
• Familiarity with industry/technical terms and processes.

Education/Experience

• Prior experience in a retail pharmacy setting, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial role.
• Bachelor's degree in pharmacy from an accredited school of pharmacy required. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) preferred.
• Active pharmacist license in the state of California.
• BLS certified
