All applicants must be energetic, enthusiastic and have a passion for early childhood education. Applicants for the Teacher position must be New York State certified in Childhood or Early Childhood Education and either hold a Masters Degree or be perusing their Masters Degree. Applicants for the Assistant positon mush have experience working with preschool aged children in a classroom.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Preschool & Family Program Director/Coordinator or Branch Director, the Preschool Aide is responsible for guiding and nurturing preschool students. To assist the Preschool Teacher in supervising program participants and ensuring their safety and success.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist teachers with the implementation of curriculum within the established guidelines.
  2. Assists the Preschool Teacher in designing and implementing daily lesson/activity plans.
  3. Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
  4. Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers.
  5. Maintains program site and equipment.
  6. Responsible for the health, welfare and safety of participants.
  7. Maintains required program records.
  8. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
  9. Actively pursues training, learning opportunities and certifications as they relate to responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Valid New York State Drivers License
  2. At least 18 years of age.
  3. CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  4. Minimum of 6 months previous experience working with preschool age children.
  5. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  6. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  7. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to plan, lead and participate in activities.
