Job DescriptionJob DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARY:

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for inspecting and testing incoming materials, in-process subassemblies and final product. They will assist in providing various Quality functions such as special testing and statistical process control analysis. They will perform quality inspections on sub-assemblies and final product to assess competency of employees to produce product that meets quality specifications. Perform first article and process validation inspections to approve new suppliers and/or new processes and process or product changes.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Conduct incoming inspection and testing on materials used in manufacturing.
  • Conduct in-process inspection and testing on ceramics and sub-assemblies.
  • Conduct final inspection and testing on product prior to shipment to customers.
  • Create Certificates of Analysis (C of A) and Certificates of Conformance (C of C).
  • Send product documentation to customers.
  • Assess sub-assemblies and parts to determine competency of employees to produce quality parts.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and develop action plans to address quality issues.
  • Work with departments to help with preventative/corrective actions
  • Record and report efforts to eliminate internal and external failures.
  • Support improvement efforts through data collection, trend analysis, and root cause analysis.
  • Support gathering and analyzing statistical process control data to recommend action points and improve process controls.
  • Assist in the creation and updating of written instructions for inspection and testing.
  • Calibrate test equipment and go/no go gages.
  • Maintain records of calibration.
  • Support Assembly and Manufacturing in building and testing product as needed.
  • Consistent and punctual attendance is required. Must be willing to work flexible hours to cover production needs and may need to work some Saturdays and additional hours as necessary.
  • Conduct routine process and procedural audits
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS

Experience/Background:

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience that will allow successful performance of job expectations
  • 2 years or more relevant experience
  • Experience in auditing and/or reading simple blueprints is preferred
  • This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Must be a U.S. person or protected individual within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines U.S. persons and protected individuals as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), U.S. Temporary Resident, Political Asylee or Refugee.

Skills:

  • Handling inspection and test mechanical and electronic instruments
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook and web-browsers
  • Technical writing skills
  • Skilled problem-solver: Exercises judgment, based on previous experience, practices and precedents, to identify and solve problems that arise with little or no precedent
  • Quality-minded, result oriented and strong attention to detail

ENVIRONMENTAL & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Manufacturing / Non-Sedentary Requirements:

Incumbent must be able to perform the essential functions of the job. Work may be performed in an office or warehouse environment. Typically requires the ability to spend 66%+ hours each work day doing the following activities: stand for extended periods of time, walk, bend, stoop, or climb. May have possible exposure to dust and may require the ability to lift and/or push up to 50 pounds 33% - 66% of the time.
