The Medical Lab Technician I or Medical Technologist I provides professional clinical laboratory services, including various laboratory analyses, proficiency testing, quality control, professional consultation, instrument maintenance and validation, specimen collection and management, and other functions to attain these goals.Roles and Responsibilities: Assists in the daily operation in all laboratory areas, including routine and STAT testing requests. Generalist tech duties include standardized and semi-routine biological, chemical, hematological, immunological, immunohematological, microbiological, and serological tests in a clinical laboratory, but not limited to these. May perform phlebotomy and other duties associated with Laboratory Assistant while interacting with patients to demonstrate knowledge and sensitivity appropriate for all patients' ages. Responsible for examining human or animal specimens, providing information for diagnosing, preventing, or treating a disease, or assessing a medical condition. This includes the pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic phases and all associated clerical duties of such examinations in all departmental areas. The organization provides primary and preventive care, surgical and specialty services, inpatient and outpatient care, and 24-hour, physician-staffed emergency services. Aligned with community partners, NVRH values and invests in efforts to address social conditions to create well-nourished, well-housed, physically healthy, mentally healthy, and financially secure communities. NVRH serves the health needs of over 30,000 people in Caledonia and southern Essex Counties in Vermont and employs over 700 dedicated staff.Qualifications: Candidates should have an Associate's Degree in Health Science; a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Lab Science is preferred. Certification and registration are required for ASCP or HHS. Must be able to work in all areas of the clinical laboratory as a generalist. Areas include Hematology, Chemistry, Micro, Blood Bank, and Phlebotomy skills. 3pm - 11:30pm and every 3rd weekend. Experience with Meditech is required. Submissions with RTO will not be considered.
