Position Overview:
As a Health & Safety Co-op at AMTB, you will play a crucial role in supporting the company's commitment to a safety culture by assisting with the implementation and maintenance of comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs. This position provides a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment, enhance your technical skills, and make a positive impact on the safety and well-being of our employees.
Overall Responsibilities:
- Assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of EHS programs and policies to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments and safety audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Participate in incident investigations, root cause analyses, and the development of corrective and preventive measures.
- Support the implementation of safety training programs and workshops for employees and contractors.
- Help maintain and update safety data sheets (SDS) and ensure proper chemical management practices.
- Assist with the management of waste disposal, recycling programs, and other environmental sustainability initiatives.
- Collect, analyze, and report EHS data to track performance metrics and identify areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and provide input on safety-related projects and initiatives.
- Stay informed about the latest EHS trends, best practices, and regulatory changes to ensure continuous improvement of EHS programs.
Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Prior experience or coursework in EHS is a plus.
