Position Overview

The Yard Laborer is responsible for the operation of plant equipment and performing maintenance and housekeeping tasks necessary to maintain plant sites and building grounds. This position is also responsible for providing first-class assistance, customer service, and support for the company grounds and facilities.


Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, operate plant equipment and perform housekeeping tasks necessary to maintain plant sites, buildings, grounds and equipment at the plant or job site.
  • Assist batch plant operator at the ready-mix plant.
  • Operate plant processing equipment, maintain product quality and production output; report any deficiency to supervisor for corrective measures.
  • Provide preventative maintenance service for plant equipment; conduct plant equipment repairs as direct by supervision.
  • Perform daily inspections of plant equipment and grounds to ensure a safe work environment; report any deficiency to supervisor for corrective measures.
  • Follow all safety, compliance, and environmental requirements in alignment with company standards.
  • Operate plant processing equipment in accordance with company guidelines for product quality and production output; monitor plant for material spills and mechanical failure and report to site management when identified.
  • Clean under and around operating plant using hand tools and small mobile equipment.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance activities in a timely manner; assist with major plant repairs and breakdowns as required; coordinates work to ensure that repairs are completed in a timely manner and according in order of priority.
  • Provide leadership and/or guidance to less experienced laborers on more complex assignments; may train new employees.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to use hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of company processes and procedures.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time.
  • Able to prioritize work.
  • Valid driver’s license.

  • Must be able to exert up to 10-20 lbs constantly to move objects, 25-50 lbs of force frequently and 50-100 lbs of force occasionally.
  • Vision abilities (with correction) include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Able to work in all weather conditions.
