JOB SUMMARY: The Tool Room Technicians primary functions are to support the Operations and R&D departments with CNC work holding, assembly fixtures, gages and prototype components for new product development. The ability to collaborate in a team environment on design intent, manufacturing methods, and timing is necessary to achieve the desired results.


ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Manufacturing, Quality, and Product Engineering in the development and fabrication of prototype components
  • Work with Manufacturing and Quality Engineering in the development and fabrication of work holding fixtures and gages for new product launch
  • Work with Product Engineering and R&D Technicians on the development and fabrication of work holding and fixturing for testing and validation in the lab
  • Support Operations on the repair or replacement of existing tooling, work holding, fixturing, and gaging
  • Work with the Engineering groups and production floor on continuous improvement projects
Requirements:

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS OF JOB:

  • Journeyman’s card or associates degree in a related metal working field i.e.., (machinist, tool and die)
  • Requirements if no higher education qualifications:
  • Work experience with CNC lathes & mills (references required).
  • Setup (programming, tooling selection, product validation).
  • Troubleshooting.
  • Process control.
  • Work experience in a tool room environment (references required).
  • Strong blueprint reading skills including GD&T.
  • Knowledge of metal characteristics related to function and machinability.
  • Experience with 2D CAD software, Standard tool room equipment and associated work holding and cutting tools, Conversational machine controls (Hurco, Milltronics), ARC, MIG, and TIG welding.

REQUIREMENTS OF JOB:

· Able to use tool room equipment safely and effectively.

· Able to develop tooling, fixturing and gaging requirements for the fabrication of components.

· Able to use CAD to support machine programming and process development.

· Able to use typical gage techniques including manual CMM to validate fabricated components.

· Able to multi-task between multiple job priorities to meet timing needs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB:

· Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of time with occasional position changes.

· Work requires remaining stationary, typing, working with a monitor, writing, lifting, stooping, moving about the office, and positioning self to reach or file.

· Ability to lift 45 pounds.

· Possess a Cheerful and Hospitable Attitude, with the ability to work in Teams, and participate in Meetings.

· Good communication skills, with the ability to communicate electronically and verbally to Team.

· Enter information into ERP system.

· Must successfully complete any training necessary to perform tasks.

· Willingness and ability to function within, maintain, and respect an environment of confidentiality.

· Must comply with established work rules and applicable Ausco Products, LLC policies and procedures.

· Must be able to work overtime as required.

· Work in accordance with Ausco’s Safety policies.
