The Plumbing Service Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing used for water distribution and wastewater disposal. Performs a variety of services ranging from faucet repairs to water heater installations and plumbing systems replacements for residential customers while maintaining the highest level of customer service.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures.
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems.
  • Plan, install, and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment, and controls. These piping systems may be used to transport water, waste, gases, or hot liquids.
  • Provide excellent customer service to residential customers by educating them on plumbing services recommended in their homes if a foreseeable and/or hazardous condition is detected.
  • Identify required tools and special equipment
  • Select the type and size of pipe required
  • Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures
  • Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures, and equipment
  • Assemble and install valves and fittings
  • Install, repair, and maintain water treatment equipment, piping, and controls
  • Install, repair, and maintain underground storm sanitary and water piping systems
  • Install, repair, and maintain sinks, tubs, and toilets
  • Install, repair, and maintain water heaters and conditioners
  • Install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures, appliances, and trim
  • Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks
  • Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures
  • Apply all codes to installations, repairs, and maintenance
  • Ensure all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are met
  • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded
  • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes
  • Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements

Qualifications:

  • Ability to drive a company service truck safely at all times and to maintain a clean driving record.
  • Strong analytical and problems solving skills
  • Ability to make sound business decisions
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and listening skills.
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to sell services to customers in an effective and satisfactory manner; assist the customer in choosing the best service option and products and strive to win referrals and repeat business.
  • Ability to maintain a clean, organized job site
  • Ability to maintain a well-inventoried truck
  • Honesty and trustworthiness in dealing with customers
  • Demonstrate sound work ethic
  • Ability to work a varying schedule depending on the company’s needs; work off-shift with minimal notice if required, including holidays and weekends
  • Ability to participate in training sessions and company meetings
  • Accuracy and timely invoicing, timesheets other daily paperwork.

Experience/ Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required, associates and college degrees preferred.
