The Stewardship Leader ensures compliance with Corporate and Site stewardship policies/programs while actively seeking to improve the site stewardship culture. They do this through active participation in hazard recognition/mitigation, full program ownership of multiple safety/environmental systems, and influential leadership.  Along with day to day activities (i.e. industrial hygiene sampling/system inspection/work permitting activities), the Stewardship Leader should also have focus on engagement of the work to continuously improve overall stewardship performance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Models Celanese leader expectations and actively coaches/mentors the Team Captains and Process Experts on safety and environmental related topics.
  • Identifies, mitigates or creates contingency plans for emerging risks/hazards and enlists necessary resources to ensure consistent compliance.
  • Owns and facilitates several site programs which includes, but is not limited to Emergency Response, Security, Safety Training/Onboarding, PPE, Chemical/Waste Management, Ergonomics and Life Critical Topics.
  • Demonstrates availability, flexibility, and discretion to adjust to the immediate needs of the plant.
  • Supports and leads stewardship/environmental related incident investigations and RCAs. Writes and delivers safety flashes and implements follow up corrective action plans.
  • Able to review, update, and/or develop new processes/systems and ensure consistency within the unit.
  • Maintains organized documentation of site policies and objective evidence.
Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma/GED as a minimum
    • Advanced degree a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years of manufacturing leadership experience.
    • Chemical manufacturing and emergency response experience a plus.
  • Ability to build strong relationships and plan/align with the team.
  • Strong verbal/written communication.
  • Solid coaching skills.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft Office and ability to learn new software for incident tracking.
  • Strong organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects/tasks/programs.
  • Self-directed.
  • Able to interpret health and safety regulations and standards, including company policy, OSHA, and NFPA.
  • Passion for continuous improvement or employee engagement and safety culture.
