The Equity Alliance Fund, the 501c4 affiliate of The Equity Alliance, is launching the inaugural 2024 cohort of our LiberTEA  Fellowship Program beginning this spring. We are seeking passionate and dedicated college students to join our youth-led voter mobilization team to learn, lead and coordinate advocacy and civic engagement initiatives that promote equity, justice, and social change across Tennessee. 


Youth Fellows will play a pivotal role in working alongside the Youth Organizing Manager to engage Black Tennesseans through community engagement events, community mobilization, assisting in increasing voter recruitment and turnout, and receive crucial training on grassroots organizing.


 This position requires a driven youth who can effectively mobilize their peers, educate their community, and foster leadership to create a lasting impact. This is an expected 8-month fellowship with a stipend of $800 a month beginning April 1. 


Responsibilities

  • Monthly Virtual Statewide Fellow Call
    • Collaborate with other LiberTEA Fellows across the state to discuss relevant events and policies as well as build statewide relations.
    • Create actionable plans to host events, build civic engagement among youth, and register citizens to vote.
  • Monthly Civic Training 
  • Receive formal training form The Equity Alliance and familiar partners on subjects regarding voter education, phone and text banking, canvassing, and volunteer recruitment, including but not limited to attending key local and state meetings, hearings, and events.
  • Develop and implement strategies and skill sets needed for supporting the community and organization in the scope of voting and community engagement.
  • Fellow Planned Community Event
  • Design, execute, and manage a community or civic focused event aligned with The Equity Alliance and The Equity Alliance Fund's policy objectives.
  • Develop campaign messaging, materials, and tactics to engage volunteers, youth, and the broader community as well as promote awareness.

Annual LiberTEA Summit 

  • Attend the yearly LiberTEA Summit on behalf of The Equity Alliance to represent youth and their developing needs.
  • Network with other youth and organizations to build collaborative efforts for future coalition and civic work.
  • Monthly Attendance At An Event Sponsored By The Equity Alliance
  • Engage with The Equity Alliance and its staff members at community or civic events hosted by the organization.
  • Mobilize college-aged youth to attend events as well as maintain connection between them and the organization.

Qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Incoming college freshman or higher academic level at a Tennessee historically Black college or university (HBCU).
  • Excellent communication and relational skills, with the ability to engage and
    mobilize diverse communities.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in advocacy, community organizing, lobbying, or public policy.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Commitment to equity, justice, and social change, with a passion for empowering marginalized communities.
