Job Title: Principal Chemical Engineer

About the Role: We are a cutting edge, high-quality producer of Honeycomb composites, seeking an accomplished and innovative Chemical Engineer or Chemist with a strong background in the research and development of adhesives and coatings. This role will be instrumental in product development and project execution. Individuals in this role should bring a high level of technical knowledge and experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams. This position will act as a scientific advisor to the leadership team on a broad range of technical and manufacturing issues and projects.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design and supervise the development of coatings, adhesives, and processes to meet customer requirements.
  2. Plans, organizes, and executes research and development on new or existing projects, products, or processes.
  3. Develop test programs to determine compatibility of products under various chemical exposures.
  4. Formulate new adhesives and coatings to meet various customer or product performance demands.
  5. Develop and determine chemical solutions for the surface treatment of materials to be coated and/or bonded.
  6. Write process instructions on how to mix materials and evaluate for quality and consistency.
  7. Evaluate quality and consistency of adhesives, resins, and substrates.
  8. Monitor safety on all operations involving chemicals and train operators on safety procedures.
  9. Recommend and evaluate equipment for mixing chemicals, ensuring safety.
  10. Serve as contact person for all emissions and chemical regulatory matters.
  11. Scientific advisor to all Business Unit Managers.
  12. Participate in improving our product, processes, equipment, and methods.
  13. Perform all reasonably related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  1. Completed 4-year degree in Chemical Engineering or similar specialized field.
  2. MS in engineering/scientific discipline preferred.
  3. 15+ years of progressive work experience in the chemical field.
Requirements:
  1. Must be eligible to work on programs subject to ITAR Regulations. Therefore, candidates must be a U.S. Citizen or a U.S. Permanent Resident ('Green Card').
