Overview of Responsibilities

The Copywriter is responsible for crafting compelling written content that effectively communicates PWNA’s mission, values, and impact to various stakeholders. Working closely with the programs, communications, and development teams, the Copywriter creates engaging copy for fundraising campaigns, website content, social media posts, newsletters, press releases, and direct mail. The Copywriter is vital in advancing PWNA’s mission by effectively communicating its message to stakeholders, inspiring support, and driving positive impact.

Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions

· Develop persuasive and engaging written content for various channels, including fundraising campaigns, website pages, social media platforms, newsletters, press releases, and other projects.

· Ensure all written content aligns with the organization's brand voice, tone, and messaging standards to maintain consistency and strengthen brand identity.

· Create compelling appeals and fundraising materials to attract donors and supporters, utilizing storytelling techniques to evoke emotion and encourage financial contributions.

· Work closely with internal teams to understand their needs and objectives and tailor messaging accordingly.

· Conduct research on target audiences, industry trends, and best practices in non-profit communication to inform content creation strategies. Analyze the performance of written content and make data-driven adjustments to optimize effectiveness.

· Stay informed about developments in the non-profit sector, including emerging trends and successful communication strategies employed by other organizations. Seek opportunities for professional growth and skill development.

Experience/Position Requirements:

· Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, or related field. Or equivalent work experience.

· Previous experience as a copywriter, preferably in the non-profit sector.

· Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, with a strong attention to detail.

· Ability to craft compelling narratives and messages that resonate with diverse audiences.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

· Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

· Collaborative mindset with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Expressed desire to learn about the issues of Indian Country and the philanthropic landscape of Native American issues.

· Meticulous attention to detail in proofreading, editing, and fact-checking to ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality in all written materials.

· Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment without compromising quality.

· Ability to analyze data and metrics to evaluate written content performance, identify improvement opportunities, and make data-driven decisions to optimize messaging strategies.

· Awareness of ethical considerations in copywriting, including transparency, honesty, and respect for diverse perspectives, to build trust and credibility with the audience.
