The role & department

Fokker Services, a multinational Aviation Maintenance & Repair Organization, is seeking a dynamic and driven candidate who’s passionate and curious about finding solutions for their customers. The ideal candidate will possess both the ability to think critically and the curiosity to solve problems affecting our customer maintenance programs. The Director of Engineering will work with the leadership team in the development of repairs that will allow restoration of aircraft components back to an airworthiness condition in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) rules and regulations. This person will oversee a technical staff of engineers with possible multi-site teams.

The Director of Engineering will have the opportunity to build a team of highly competent and creative engineers. The Engineering team will support technical value added projects for our shops as well as working to develop strategic proprietary solutions for our customers.

This is an on-site role at our LaGrange, GA facility with regular travel to our other sites worldwide.

Your key responsibilities

In this position, your main responsibilities and duties are:Open

  • Build a high performing team of engineering professionals capable of developing repairs on aircraft components always placing safety and compliance with applicable regulations first.
  • Develop and mentor engineers and engineering co-ops to strengthen their skills and ability to provide solutions for our customers.
  • Develop internal policies and procedures to maintain and advance repair development techniques
  • Provide key guidance to the management team regarding regulatory compliance.
  • Present at technical conferences.
  • Identify new areas of opportunity to expand repair capabilities and opportunities.

What do we ask from you?

The successful applicant will have:

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. MS Preferred
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Familiar with basic failure analysis techniques.
  • Knowledge of materials, stress-strain, shear, and lug analysis.
  • Familiar with 14CFR regulations as they relate to Major/Minor repairs, fabricated parts, PMA and STC certification.
  • FEA software analysis and knowledge of ASME Y14.5M-1994 standards are a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years Part 121 Airline experience or Part 145.
  • Knowledge of Lean and 6 Sigma practices a plus.
